A Tale Of Two Blogs

January 27, 2010

two more Meat Week blog posts showed up this week, one on UrbanDaddy and one on Atlanta's Creative Loafing site. UrbanDaddy seems to totally nail the spirit of the season, along with all the simple details. details that sort of, well...eluded Creative Loafing (along with our URL).

here's an excerpt from UrbanDaddy:

Sometimes a juggernaut so powerful comes along that you can't help but be swept up in its all-consuming maelstrom. Particularly when said juggernaut involves barbecue.

HOLY CRAP. i just pooped a little reading that powerful phrase! and, for a really fun contrast, here is an excerpt from Creative Loafing:

Originating in Tampa, Fla., the organization uses a naval ranking system, which seems to sort members by their time and relative importance in the organization. The original admirals have now moved to L.A. where they earn their keep by creating sitcoms, or so a rather scattered and bulleted press release (of sorts) claims. Their current professions help explain why the event is so quirky.

wow! we are way more radd than we thought. Chris and i have decided this image of us is better than reality, so we will now issue this historically-revisionary press release. are you ready? this is it. here it is. put it in stone. our first REAL press release:

"Sitcom moguls from Tampa put on a naval-ranked week of meat . Request only sailors attend. RSVP please."

and you can take that to the blood bank.

Well put. I was both amused and incensed when I read it. Silly blogger. That is the last time I deal with Creative Loafing.

And we even have an avid MeatWeeker on staff! Brooke, handle your peeps!

I love that even when news writers have access to written information the facts get fuzzy. News = playing telephone.

All in all, I think that's how Myths/Legends get started.
