Hype Week 2010

January 26, 2010

There's less than a week left 'til the meat starts flowing and the arteries start clogging! And you know what that means? That makes this week HYPE WEEK!

What's Hype Week you ask? Well it's our time to bust out the ol' MS Paint skillz and share our meat-love with the world. It's a time to spread the good word to family and friends, a time to express yourself with sauce on your paintbrush, and a time to create warnings that screams loudly across the internet, "Meat Week is nigh!"

Wanna see what it's all about? Some folks are just so excited about hypin' that they couldn't wait for this week. There's already a few dozen works of art in the Hype section. Mosey on over to check it out and when you're ready you can send your hype to us.

Happy hyping!

January 23, 2010

that's right, the Baltimore Sun is so hyped on Meat Week, they started a haiku contest!

i don't know what more to say about this, except that we should all submit haikus and blow this thang up. the contest will be judged by Elizabeth Large, instigator of this wonderful idea.

More Media Attention for Baltimore Chapter

January 17, 2010

Baltimore can't get enough of Meat Week this year! the Baltimore Sun published this article today (Sunday). one of the more interesting public responses we've seen to Meat Week, the author seems to be more than a little confused about our purpose, questioning whether the "whole thing is a colossal prank."

well, in answer to that we channel our southern fathers to declare, "ain't nothin' funny 'bout BBQ son!" there is, however, something funny about the comment section beneath the article -- we highly recommend a read.

thanks Baltimore Sun! enjoy your meat!

Baltimore Chapter Featured on Examiner.com

January 15, 2010

Dara Bunjon, food blogger extraordinaire, was kind enough (excited enough) to write a great article about Meat Week! it includes some website hype and Baltimore's schedule, as well as this wonderful paragraph:

"Unlike God's wisdom to rest on day 7, Meat Week is 8 days. How apropos that day 8 is Super Bowl, a pig skin bonanza and all mates gather at a fleet member's home for BYOBBQ."

couldn't have said it better ourselves. thanks, Dara!

Chris Rogers, 2007 Rookie of the Year, recently received this email, likely in error, but FAR more likely in perfect harmony with the universe's great design:

the Meat Gods have smiled on us yet again.
