Ok......

I can almost smell the smoked-dead-pork flesh in the air, all lathered up with BBQ sauce. The essence of life. If only the rivers in GA could run red this blood of the gods then we would know that we were in heaven. Whether you prefer mustard, vinegar, or molasses based sauce all are welcome to this installment of the Athens chapter of MEAT WEEK 2010.

My name is Josh Skelton and I am the self-proclaimed captain for this somewhat maiden voyage of Athens, GA's chapter into Meat Week infamy.(I say "somewhat" because my band, The Bearfoot Hookers, sponsored a meat week run for Athens back in 2006.) We are promoting world peace and harmony at our chapter, so everyone bring your smiles and empty bellies.

I believe BBQ is a way of life. A gift given to us by heaven itself. In my heaven the streets are filled with vendors graciously giving away their pulled pork, ribs, briskets, and chicken. The streets are flooded with all the BBQ sauce varieties that you would ever need. You simply bend down and spoon the sauce with your hands and onto your meat. No plates. No utensils. Just the tools that the good lord gave you.... Your fingers and your mouth.

Please come and join us this year. It is a great time to meet new people, and revisit old friends. If nothing else, you get to eat some damn good BBQ!
